New Zealand · Incorporated Societies Act 2022
Know what your society owes, and when it's due.
Societies is a compliance tracker for New Zealand incorporated societies. It follows what the Incorporated Societies Act 2022 asks of your society — AGM and annual return deadlines, financial statements, and the registers you're required to keep — and puts the next thing due on one screen.
It's built for the volunteer who inherited the secretary's job with no handover.

What it does
One place for the paperwork the 2022 Act expects a committee to be able to produce on request, and a running count of the deadlines attached to it.
A deadline dashboard
Your AGM window and annual return date, worked out from your balance date and the last meeting you actually held.
Member register
The roll the Act requires you to keep, with a CSV import.
Officer register
Your committee, with each officer's consent to act and eligibility recorded.
Financial statements
Receipts and payments for the year, assets and liabilities at balance date, and a printable minimum requirements notice.
Meetings and minutes
AGM records, attendance and resolutions — checked against your own constitution's quorum and notice rules.
Conflicts and disputes
Who can't vote on what, what went wrong and how it was settled.
Register watch
Get notified if your society is removed from the register, or its charity status changes.
An honest history
Every change is written to an append-only record.
How it works
-
Find your society
Autocomplete against the Companies Office register so balance date and charity status arrive already filled in.
-
Bring in your committee
Officers come from the register so you start with a real committee rather than a blank table.
-
Work down the list
The dashboard shows what's due next and what's missing from each register.
What it doesn't do
- It doesn't file anything on your society's behalf. It gets you to the point where filing on the Companies Office site takes a few minutes, and no further.
- It isn't legal advice. It tracks dates and records, and tells you what's missing. Whether your society's particular situation needs a lawyer is still your call.
- It doesn't replace your constitution. Quorums, notice periods and voting thresholds are set by your own rules, not by the Act. They're entered as your society's inputs, and the app never presents a placeholder as though it came from the legislation.
Questions
Who is this for?
The secretary, treasurer or committee member of a New Zealand incorporated society — sports clubs, community groups, hobby associations, trusts that incorporated as societies. Usually unpaid, usually with no handover.
Does my society have to be a registered charity?
No. Roughly one in four registered societies is also a registered charity, and both work here. If you are one, some details can be prefilled from the Charities Register and your reporting obligations differ — it accounts for that.
Where does the register data come from?
Public New Zealand government sources. Looking your society up is something you ask for, not something that happens in the background.
Who in my society can see our records?
Only someone holding an office in it. Being a member gets you what the public register already publishes and nothing more — the financials, the member roll and the meeting records are closed until an officer's claim is approved by someone already inside.
